During his weekly Angelus prayer in St Peter's Square on Sunday, March 1st, 2026,
Pope Leo shared,
"I am following with deep concern what is happening in the Middle East and in Iran during this tumultuous time.
Stability and peace are not achieved through mutual threats, nor through the use of weapons, which sow destruction, suffering, and death, but only through reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue.
Faced with the possibility of a tragedy of immense proportions, I make a heartfelt appeal to all the parties involved to assume the moral responsibility of halting the spiral of violence before it becomes an unbridgeable chasm.
May diplomacy regain its proper role, and may the well-being of peoples, who yearn for peaceful existence founded on justice, be upheld.
And let us continue to pray for peace."
So, we pray:
God of Mercy, we call upon your Son, the Prince of Peace.
As we continue to journey through this Lent, hoping for the joy of the Resurrection, help our world leaders find ways to create peace.
We pray for all those who are affected on all sides by violence, war, and poverty.
Help us to learn to be people of peace so that justice, love, and mercy may be cherished and upheld throughout the world.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
Each week, the Archbishop Mitty High School community prays a decade of the rosary for peace at 8 a.m. in front of the Kinkade Cross. All are welcome.

Part 2 of this series will take place in the fall and will feature an expert guest speaker who will offer a deeper dive into the broader implications of AI for education and the future our students are preparing to enter.
